One of the things, I love is spontaneous romantic gestures... I mean it doesn't have to be expensive.... No, daily dozen roses or anything like that... But, hell a nice little surprise can have a big impact..... A room filled with lit candles... Which I believe is popular amongst almost all women....

Thank you Mitch, but I think some of us were looking for the opposite... romantic things a man can do for a woman. In general, guys aren't as interested in the "romantic" side of things are women, don't you agree? I wouldn't classify greeting someone at the door with a Colombian meal while naked as a jaybird as being "romantic". ;) I'd just call that... "pleasing the man", but not exactly romantic. But maybe that's just my feminine viewpoint and you guys actually do see that as being romantic?

I had recall very romantic night. It was a restaurant where we sat on the floor on pillows after climbing a spiral staircase to the room. The place was lit by candles only (maybe some very soft lighting...I didn't notice). We didn't eat. Just drank and talked a little. The atmosphere was dripping wtih romance.

What I loved most was that he decided to take me there. I had no idea where we were going and it was a complete surprise. He was trying to win me over and it worked.

gs I expressed to tg a moment in my life that can never be replicated. we lost, or had stolen, the camera that held our wedding photos, our wedding on the beach of San Andres, and I only tried to express to my freind tg, since every one kept asking me for photos, and it hurt so bad every time that I had to say they were lost, how beautiful the scene actually was, and how no photos could ever convey it completely as it actually was.

I know what you mean! Luckily this is not a geek fest because we are about 60/40 or 70/30 practioners (i.e., those of us who work in industry) versus academics. I've been to conferences where it's primarily academics and that's a geek fest! And then there's the American Psychological Association conference, where you get a predominance of bearded therapists. I didn't fit.

I pick sessions based on who is presenting and maybe the topic. I try to support my friends by being in the audience. They do the same for me. And I always make it to one session of my old advisor....because I never know what will come out of his mouth! My secrets for making conferences fun!

So why don't you ask your advisor about sending the article out for pub? If your field is anything like mine, there are journals galore and probably he can recommend one that would fit. You do realize that publication means more work for you! ;-)

I am glad your presentation went well. I don't think I've ever seen any grad student get grilled at a conference session. People are usually very polite...or maybe asleep...especially since you presented on Saturday....lol.....

Actually, the polisci nerds don't care who you are, they'll grill you... so grad students are no exception. The discussant for my panel flat out told this one chick "I don't believe your results at all". I thought she was going to cry. We had quite a few people at our panel on Sat. since the conference was from Thurs-Sun. It was at 12:45 which is a good time. Those that meet at 8am are the ones where no one shows up or falls asleep. ;)

Yes, there are lots of journals I could submit this to and since this is my first one, I won't be aiming high for the biggies. But like you said, even if I submit it to a mid-range one, that's going to be more work for me making sure it is ready and doesn't get denied right off the bat. I'd like to at least get "revise and resubmit". hehe However, I'm told that I should get used to the rejection letters. :(

We just changed our conference schedule to Thurs - Saturday. Sunday AM sessions were poorly attended since everyone goes out Saturday night and are too tired to get up on Sunday.

I guess my question to you would be whether or not you really need the pub. You have a presentation at a conference. That's better than a poster session! It really is a lot of work for a pub. Guess you'll need to decide if it's worth the effort.

Oh wait....that just triggered a memory...... I took a Marketing class when I was in grad school and my project partner called me one night and was saying suggestive things to me over the phone. Ick! I think he was drunk, but I still complained to the prof that this jerk harassed me and I didn't want to work with him anymore.

Oh and one of our HR leaders tried to make a pass at me in an elevator one night. He was drunk and his shirt was inside out (in Amsterdam...3 guesses as to where he probably was earlier in the evening). I was pretty pissed at him after that.
