holy moly.............the gator's back hail floridians

sometime back at the beginning of the summer, my resident gator just up and disappeared and i haven't seen any since. not even the little guys. "mine" was about 7 ft.

i just came back from picking up my daughter at her school, and as we're driving back to the house, the biggest, fattest gator i ever saw is layin out there on the bank of the pond. he's gotta be at least 12 ft long and at least 24 plus inches across his belly. what a fricken monster. looks like a battle ship layin there.

he better go hide himself, cause if they're over five feet, they're dead meat. they show a little tolerance like up to seven or so ft, if no one complains they get to slide. but somebody's gonna call this guy in, soon. pity.

i've only been in florida for 8-9 years and only 2 years out where the gaters hang. so i'm really clueless about their habits.

yesterday that big guy showed up and there's been none around since may-june. they, along with the turkeys, wild pig and turtles, just disappeared.

this morning, the big guy 'got hat' and was gone. but the flock of turkeys showed up and i saw a small gator 4-5 ft in another pond down the road and the tortoises showed back up again.

do any of you floridians or bayou people know anything about these habits?

Yep,

They like to kill stuff and stuff it under a log until it gets good and rotten and tasty. Just like spaghetti sauce is better after a couple of days in the fridge.

They can move frighteningly fast on land and water.

Stay away.

My grandmother in Louisiana fed a 12 footer for years, and if you did not have food, then it would come out of the water after you.

trust me, that battleship that was layin up there on the bank had my full attention and respect. i didn't go over on his side of the pond.
