Ouch! I enjoy going to the Houston Rodeo to watch the events (the calf scramble is always the best event). It's amazing watching them ride the bucking broncos!

Hey Tejas...my first rodeo was in a small town outside of Dallas. Just bleachers under a roof. You could really see and feel every little kick. Being so close to the action was really a treat. I had a Dutch friend with me and he loved it.

yep, the cowboy culture is the only real culture in the usa outside of the collection of material possesions. i've always wanted to come down to the houston rodeo. they put on a great show, i hear - lots of music entertainment as well.

- you probably went to the Mesquite, Texas rodeo...

Yep, go to the Texas countryside and you´ll see the real cowboy culture with buckle belts bigger than a Finish driver´s license...

You know, you're probably right Tejas. It probably was Mesquite. All I remember was how much fun we had.

There are cowboys in Canada too you know! Calgary is known for its cowboys.

The acoustics in Reliant Arena sucks so I wouldn't go for the concerts. I prefer watching the actual rodeo. One year we left not long after Pat Green started. But I admit, Brooks and Dunn was pretty good and Reba was a treat. And I don't listen to country.

OMG Jorge - Just go to the Houston rodeo and you'll see all those huge, shiny buckles being paraded around. It's a treat just to people watch and eat all things fried.

i grew up in rural--real rural--california and rodeo was big time. them bukaroos take a whoopin every time they get on a horse or a bull. a friend of mine who had been a bull rider for years and had hoped that his sons would 'see the light' and not follow. but one day he found the 'tie down glove' (bull riding) in his son's bedroom and knew his hopes had failed. my friend had suffered countless, serious injuries, bull ridin. he didn't wish a 'gore' on his son.
