Because of safety, it seems better to exchange in Merida rather than at the border... but is it easy to sell dollars in Merida at the black market rate?

Conchale Vale!! says on May 30, 2009, 08:56: easier and probably better rate to exchange at the border but be very careful for fakes and more important how are you then traveling to Merida form the border. You could easily get marked and robbed on the way. Have never changed in Merida but would assume it is not that hard. Probably the posadas as quite a few have foreign owners and bank accounts outside in dollars. might be a place tp do it but sure the rate will be lower.
