If your instructor is brutal, you need a different instructor. There's so many of them around (along with so many different styles of yoga). Pick one that you like (Iyengar instructors tend to be good for people who aren't very flexible since they use a lot of props). It makes a HUGE difference!

God no, in Cuba they are trying to be tourist friendly so they don't stamp your passport, they give you a tourist card and stamp that.

I actually lost the goddamn card and had a very hard time leaving Cuba. Without that card there was no record of my entering Cuba and their systems are crapula. They looked at my canadian passport dubiously. Spanish face, spanish surname, they must have thought I was a cubana trying to leave the island. One of the immigration officials was joking that they were not going to let me out. I walked out of that room pale lol. When I saw all else was failing I was thinking of bribing them.

Cubans barely know what other latinos are like, everybody there thought I was a Mexican or a gringa. They can't tell a mexican accent from a colombian accent either, all they know about colombia, sadly, is that lots of white powder comes from there.

If they had played hardass at the airport I could always have produced evidence of my inbound flight, hell the airlines have a record of me flying in. My canadian passport is legit but if they wanted to be jerks they could have kept me in Cuba for a few days while they cleared everything. It was just a hassle standing there with a bunch of cuban guards with the red star on their barrets, starring me up and down in that little room and asking me "chica, pero donde tu tiene' la tadjeta, bu'cala bu'cala.....".... gulp!

I must say they were nice though, can't say they treated me wrong in any way, just questioned me a lot.
