I will have to check with a few friends, but I know that there are very good, ethical schools for Spanish Immersion in Morelia, Michoacan. Lots of college students in that city and it has a wonderful plaza, lots of colonial architecture and it's at a higher altitude, so it's not as hot as some parts of Mexico.

They remodeled the main bus terminal a few years ago and it looks better than an AIRPORT terminal - very clean and very well designed (especially compared to the terrible terminal they had before in downtown).

But the school you mentioned sounds like it has lots of "blue ribbons" too, so it should be just fine, if not maybe a bit more expensive.

I wouldn't say there is only one place. Mexico has some fine universities, including the renown Escuela de Idiomas at Guanjuato.

Most of the sites one googles up with "unesco excelsis sipuebla" seem rather commercial.

I have heard of other language schools making false claims regarding UNESCO. Are the claims made in the OP verifiable?

Puebla, San Christobal de Las Casas, Qeuretero, Oaxaca, Guanajuato.. Mexico is full of amazing colonial towns, and each has multiple language schools.

It's difficult to imagine one school being dramatically better than another... if some disinterested person has a recommendation, I hope they'll post it. My experience is that 90% of your experience depends on you own personal effort.

So pick a nice town that you'd like to get to know, do an internet search for a school there, and go. Don't worry too much about which school is "best.'

Personally, I'd love the chance to study at this school, just to get to know Puebla, site of the famous battle of 5 de Mayo.
