Medellin Traveler comments on Lo Que Más Les Molesta A Los Colombianos

Wow! A bit harsh on an old Colombian woman looking for good service in Colombia. johnny, If that is how the internet works in Colombia than I can completely understand why the old lady went nuts.

Medellin Traveler comments on Lo Que Más Les Molesta A Los Colombianos

Medellin Traveler comments on HELP SAVE THE HIPPOS.........................

Killing of hippo in Colombia sparks outcry "We have to make decisions," Environment Vice Minister Claudia Mora told El Tiempo newspaper. "People think moving a hippopotamus from one place to another is like lassoing a cow. . . . Colombia doesn't have sufficient know-how to manage it." WTF?!? Uribe should phone Obama for some assistance. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-colombia-hippos15-2009jul15,0,235800.story I am no animal rights activist by any stretch of the imagination but this doesn't sit well with me either. dwmte7, great suggestion amigo. Estimado Alvaro Uribe, Killing of hippo in Colombia sparks outcry on PBH ! ! !

Medellin Traveler comments on The Festival of Flowers July 31st - August 9th

azunoman, It seems a lot of people get up early to claim a spot along the parade route but even though I did not l still had a great view of the parade. Check out the antique car show parade video above as well as the photo of the chiva parade in Laureles. As you can see the crowds are thin enough to get a good view from a comfortable seat on the sidewalk. The best way to see the parade is with a group of friends and a bottle or two of guaro.

Medellin Traveler comments on They must have a small pool of Colombian actors too choose from!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Mi amigo actor Juan Carlos from Sumas y Restas and Ramon Marlunda from Apocalípsur along with a group of friends hang out drinking beers and guaro at a corner store in Medellin. They would not let me pay for a single drink even though I drank more than anyone else, as always. I would disagree with the statement that only good looking actors get work in movies which is not to say the same for novelas.

Medellin Traveler comments on Santo Domingo's Children Seek Help

After a month in Colombia it is time for me to say goodbye. This was my best trip by far and for many reasons, but this event really helps to put life into perspective. So many of us have more than we need yet we are missing something in our lives that makes it worth living. Some of the people I met in Barrio Pinar go days without eating a proper meal and many have heartbreaking stories yet they were all warm and welcoming of a norteamericano into their barrio. They shine light into my soul. Also, the friends and contacts I made on this trip was nothing short of amazing especially for a norteamericano on holiday for a few weeks. It was also good meeting up with several PBH members for a beer or two and some guaro as well. Good times in Medellin. I hate to say goodbye to Colombia but such is life. Saludos a todos los paisas ! ! !

Image and video hosting by TinyPic This young girl offers Gloria a drink in appreciation of her commitment to helping out families in need. I take no credit for the event, nor expect anything in return. My goal was to give a little back to the people of Medellin after meeting so many great paisas who have gone out of their way to make my trips memorable. Not to mention my 3 day expedicion through Antioquia last weekend with 9 complete strangers from Colombia and one norteamericano. A trip that probably changed my life forever, but that is another thread all together. All credit should go to Gloria for her efforts in organizing these events. If anyone is personally intersted in helping out you can contact me and I will give you Gloria's contact information. The organization is the work of two women, Paula and Gloria. It has no affiliation with any religious or political group, it's just two women's passion for helping out those in need. Special thanks to Catalina for teaching the women how to make candles with the goal of allowing the women to earn a living on their own.
