why ru curious? no offense if ur from the south.hell i have a ton of relatives from Jackson, TN. traveled thoughout Miss, Arkansas, and Georgia and have worked in NC and VA, although def not considered deep south. dont get me wrong though, it is everywhere, and that is more my point. You can get some pretty rotten looks in the us if you deviate from the norm, whether its in Rogers, Arkansas or New York...and im not quite sure the colombians are looking at a lot of gringos with the "fu$king gringo stare" like the op somewhat alluded to.

First let me preface this comment by saying Bogota will always be a second home for me, I have a lot of close friends there and I really like the city. I have only been in the Lima airport, but hope I can go to the city at a later point to form my own impressions. But, one thing I would criticize Bogota for is poor infrastructure. In comparison to say some of the major cities in Brazil- no contest. Yes, there are reallllly nice areas, but on the whole, the city infrastructure is not good at all. After one of the earthquakes this summer, I was staying with my friends' grandmother and the building had MAJOR fricking cracking all over it that nobody seemed to give a crap about...it was actually some pretty discomforting chit. The thing was all the buildings in the neighborhood showed similar damage. Can anyone comment on Lima's general infrastructure. Secondly, I'm not sure if someone was comparing Spanish and Colombian culinary prowess. But, Spanish cuisine right now is by and large considered the best food in the world and has some of most progressive kitchens ever seen....although Colombia seems to really be coming into its own right. Anybody see the article on food from Carta in the NY times?? I personally love to eat in Colombia.

outside puerto velero...there is a coved inlet with white sand, a small windsurf school, wood structure to put sleeping bag if u want to chill there, and great fresh seafood prepared by a couple gals there. it is a pain in the f-ing ass to get to if you dont have a car and if you dont get a ride back you are screwed. if you make it, it is a great place and the dude who runs the windsurf school is super chill

vos is used intermittently in guatemala ex common street greeting q onda vos cerote? whassup dude? also in antioquia in certain places...i saw some foreigners get spanish books from uni in medellin with vos and others without it. lots of places in bolivia use too and usted in barranquilla in my friend group there is not really common, just looking at your first sentence...but in bogota my friends will always use it and say if not using it in guy to guy conversation is gay

the small gyms with good owners (maybe like ujays gym) are wayyyyy better. i was training my boy in cali in march and he got me hooked up at his gym with a very good personal trainer from Spain EVRY DAY for the both of us for the entire frigging month membership 60.000. and bodytech is garbage and fokn overpriced..540.000cop 6mo you could be in the best gym in my home in the states for that.

Umm sorry but having witnessed it firsthand on numerous occasion while living and working in Colombia and the US, I think I have a right to make that comment and share my opinion/experience. There is racial tension between lighter skinned Colombians mostly of euro descent and with Colombian blacks/people of color/however the hell you want me to categorize people and yes, depending on where you are in the US, there is also racial tension in the US with some of the Latino community and African-American community. Again I am not generalizing..I said from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE so dont be so quick be a HUGE DBAG. I realize you have very Colombiacentric centric attitude so anything i say that you might consider an attack against colombia will prompt to freak out. well i love the country too and if you read the post it is not an attack it is a commentary from my pov. thnx though
