I agree about the private entrance in terms of convenience, but both of the places I stayed required you to go through the living room and say hi to the family who owned them and in the end I think that was good for forcing me to interact with/learn from them.

I stayed in one on Old Havanna 2 years ago. It was supposed to be air coned but is was not. Damn hot. I wouldn't change the experience though. I had always stayed at resorts and this was a real eye opener. I learned allot in my 2 weeks there. More than I did with years of traveling to Veradera and staying at resorts. I used to drink in a bar just down the street. The blacks there all had gold eye teeth. I think they were all pimps. There was always a spy standing on the corner across the bar too. I drank with the owner who could speak perfect English.

I stayed at the BEST casa particular in Old Havana. The location was outstanding, the family was amazing!! Yummy food too. Sat on the couch with the family and watched something along the lines of Buffy the Vampire Slayer..haha. That was actually a bit odd but it was still a lot of fun. I would love to post a picture or two but I'm a bit of a dumbass and can't figure out how to do it!
