travelling to cartagena

would anyone know a good travel agent in df that specializes in colombia. travelling with family to cartagena de indias in november and looking for cheap ticket. not much available with regular travel agents and avianca web site is so bad it is impossible to use. I know there is a large colombian community here in df. Anyone know where they get their tickets home?

You can buy the international flight to Cartagena. I think there are direct flights from Panama or Miami. If not go through Bogota. Dont buy tickets on the Avianca website if you are not in Colombia, a lot more expensive.

I have found that the huge price difference (between using the Colombia country portal vs. the USA portal) on Avianca's website is typiclly only on domestic flights within Colombia. I haven't seen the huge difference in price for international flights beteween the USA and Colombia.

Where are flying out of? With a month or more notice, you can get tickets real cheap out of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and even Orlando. Just google cheap airline tickets and start searching.

I recently purchase round-trip tickets (JFK-BOG) for $390 on Mexicana airlines. It was probably a special but I have to travel through Mexico City and that is where the OP is located. Worth a look see.

Then airfare from BOG to CTG is not that expensive when purchased in Colombia.

Justo mi, I have to agree with you. I checked for the fare from Mexico CIty to Bogota and it comes to $9,440 mexican pesos or US$698. For the same dates (11/3/09-11/10/09), JFK to BOG via MEX is $390. How do they manage that?
