Si bien la mayoría de sus críticas fueron a través de camisetas que se puso, sobre la tarima disparó su artillería más pesada contra el gobernador de Puerto Rico Luis Fortuño, que el jueves afrontó un paro general en la isla donde nació esta agrupación juvenil.

"Como dijo ayer el gran filósofo argentino Diego Armando Maradona, a toda la gente que no creyó en mí, que me la mame", dijo René Pérez, alias Residente, al recibir uno de los Premios MTV Latinoamérica, emulando la polémica conferencia de prensa de Maradona el miércoles luego de la clasificación de Argentina al Mundial Sudáfrica 2010.

Cada vez que el cantante que se alzó con la lengua MTV a Mejor Artista Urbano subió a la tarima se cambió la camiseta con alguna de las frases que le enviaron sus seguidores por Twitter: "Chávez nominado a mejor artista pop"; "México nunca olvida, 2/oct/68", en alusión a la matanza de estudiantes en la Plaza de las Tres Culturas en Tlatelolco; "Micheletti = Pinochet" y "Mercedes Sosa sonará x100pre".

"Uribe paramilitar" decía la camiseta que usó para desfilar por la alfombra roja de estos premios que por primera vez en los ocho años de existencia se celebró en una ceremonia "multiciudad" en la que alternó con grabaciones de galas celebradas anteriormente en Buenos Aires y Bogotá.

Al presidente mexicano Felipe Calderón le pidió acciones desde la tarima: "La gente no quiere campos de golf, ni aeropuertos, la gente quiere alimentos. Que el presidente se ponga a trabajar, ¡viva México cabrones!", gritó.

This is an insult to the Colombian people! It's like if Juanes wears a t-shirt that reads 'OBAMA NIGGER'. Most (US)Americans would feel offended, rightfully so, and that's how most of us Colombians feel by this!

"El mensaje presenta un contenido ofensivo y calumnioso en contra del Presidente".

Dicho mensaje se encontraba estampado en la camiseta del cantante del grupo musical puertorriqueño 'Calle 13', Residente.

Asimismo, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores sugirió a las directivas del canal MTV "observar con mayor detenimiento las manifestaciones con alto contenido político que se hacen dentro de un escenario que se destaca por promover el arte musical".

They are able to disagree with the t-shirt, and that would be fine. But asking for censorship infringes on civil liberties. Your rights only go as far as they don't interfere with someone else. All that the Colombian government has done is made themselves look like mindless idiots that have no regards for freedom and liberty. Perhaps that is their intention because they wish to indoctrinate the public and any dissent is not tolerated, look at what happened to Claudia Lopez, enough was enough...
