Spanish Language School- your best recc. in S. America!

hi,
i'm looking to go for a little learning and a little adventure this summer- what can you tell me about your favorite language school, anywhere in South America?
if you've got several, here's what i'm hoping to find:
-some place w/easy access to nature's adventures
-small town preferred to large city, unless the large city is in a wonderous natural setting
-preferably not so touristed
-moderate to warm temps in june-august
-quality homestay
-good quality 1:1 language instruction for advanced level.

thus far i've been peeking around at other posts about schools, and have found some recc's in ecuador, peru (arequipa, ayacucho, huancayo), and a few in bolivia. any of these places would be fine.... or anywhere else, from where you came home and said, "that was amazing!"

thanks for any of your thoughts, sentiments, random musings, or straight up suggestions.

happy travels!

Best places for learning spanish I have been in order are

Antigua Guatelama - great city, lots to do and fantastic prices (2.50 per hr 1 on 1)

Quito Ecuador - as above

San Jaun del Sur - I liked the beaches close by and the schools overlooked the beach.

Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!!

VENUSA College in Merida, Venezuela.. www.venusacollege.org
It satisfies each one of your requirements, I am studying there in the Fall.

This unique program located in Merida, Venezuela, offered through the University of Minnesota, provides students the opportunity to study at the VENUSA college of International Studies and Modern Languages, a language and culture study center specializing in English for Venezuelan students and Spanish studies for US students.

Merida is a city of approximately 300,000 people built on a plateau at the base of the Andes Mountains. Merida is only eight degrees north of the equator and its tropical climate is moderated by its high elevation. Temperatures average around 70 degrees year-round. Merida offers many cultural events for students to enjoy - museums, poetry readings and art shows as well as being a center for bull fights.

Best of luck with your search,
Matt
