Planet Pop Chicharrones

While in Mexico I discovered a fine Colombian product, probably old news to many of you.

"Planet Pop" makes microwavable chicharrones in Lime, BBQ, Picante and Natural flavours. 70% less fat then normal chicharron, which means they are almost pure protein. A delicious snack! I bought twenty packs of them back with me, and customs seized them. Rats!

Anyone know where to get microwavable chicharron in Canada? I'm serious here. One of the tastiest AND most nutritious snacks I have seen. And Colombian, no less.

My baggage came a day late, so customs searched everything. I'm surprised they took issue with a hermetically sealed snack, but I guess it is meat.

I want to see a picture of the bag and where it is manufactured.

The bag says "Produced for Signa Grain Ltda, Carrera 68A #19-80. Tel. (571)2907520. Bogota, Colombia. Producto Colombiano.

www.signa-grain.com

If it is not available in Canada I would consider importing it. Per 16g snack, 12g protein, 2.5g fat, 0g carbs -- if the nutritional profile can be trusted. Delicious.

I'll see if the website has a photo.

Click on the Planet Pop icon on the website.

Incidentally, Monpi, I thought of you when I picked up a "copy" of Cafe Con Aroma de Mujer in Mexico for $10. I had looked for this all over Colombia and couldn't find it there.

I wouldn't mind. But seeing as customs seized them, I cannot. A 50g bag cost a dollar. I'm craving some right now.

I'd bet you can get them in the Southern US?
