Thought I would post this Bussiness week Article here for those who spend a bit of time between Colombia and Panama. Heading back next week and will be interested to see how it has developed over the last two years. (Mods - any chance of a Panama Forum?).

quantum says on Jul 29, 2009, 07:19: Yes, Boquete is overpriced but still very nice and agreeable and the coast is hot, as is Cartagena or Santa Marta, but the highlands are cool, green and refreshing, full of gorgeous rivers and waterfalls and u can pick your elevation although we cant lay claim to 20,000 ft snow covered Sierra Nevada like Santa Marta. Where my farm is located is at about the 2200 ft level between two incredible river canyons with ocean views and all the way out to Punta Burrica and the Costa Rican mountains. The climate is perfect! Although in the rainy season, it rains heavy at times, especially Oct and Nov. They are the two months u want to be somewhere else. But all in all, despite the shortcomings and deficiencies and hurdles its dam friendly and user friendly. Half the price of Costa Rica and the govt. beaurocracy works better and charges less. All things considered its pretty hard to beat in this part of the world. There are still fincas available for $5000 to $20,000 a hect (2.5 acres) if u avoid Boquete and a few other places. Chiriqui province is the fastest growing area in Panama today and the last place to feel the effects of the recession. quantum 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Smile and everyone will wonder what they are missing. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
