I will have a look next time I am in the area. Hopefully not Irish in name only. I would expect a hybrid of cultures, which could be interesting. Paisas doing the Riverdance!!

ahh the old cover charge trick - at least it isn't the ''members only' stance!'!!

What is it like? Any good? Who runs it?

Just saw a new Jamaican bar that is opening up in p Lleres as well.

Overpriced Guinness, a couple of road signs ("Ballyobollocks 45 km" etc.), a spade or two dangling from the ceiling...

Irish pubs- my arse.

hee hee...................... Kalder..!!......You don't like our spades...??

Your description of " Irish " pubs, is really the type of places one comes across in different parts of the world, other than Ireland. It's sort of like, Corned Beef and Cabbage. Most Irish people never heard of it until they came to America.

Pubs in Ireland, are completely different to " Irish " pubs throughout Europe and the U.S. Decent pubs in Ireland are decorated with, amongst other things, nice artwork and assorted memorabila, celebrating our many victories over the Saxon foe on the battlefield.

Aren't there more people of Irish decent in the States than Ireland? It's gotta be close.

Indeed Raay, Irish pubs in Ireland are quite nice. Decent stout and family friendly. (No decent bitter mind.)

But this "celebrating our many victories over the Saxon foe on the battlefield" malarkey? Hmm...BB's jest has a point. I'd accept "many valiant, but doomed, attempts to throw off the Saxon yoke", but "victories"????

Anyway, goodnight to you. And confusion to King George.

When the British battleship ' Helga " steamed up the river Liffey and bombarded our valiant lads during the 1916 rebellion, eventually arresting all involved and executing the leaders,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we considered it another of our victories.........celebrated passionately every year since.............

No doubt.........we have a warped sense of " victory "......................either way............I know you know that I was just making a little joke.

All the best.
