But what's behind this is the fact that these guys are above the law and it is extremely difficult for them to be held accountable for their acts and most probably they knew this when they slept with these women. A regular Colombian man would already be subject by law to pay child support.

If simple cases like paternity is an issue with the immunity that Colombia grants to the American military, wha will be about human rights violations and other crimes that will go unpunished?

If you watched the end of the show, it discussed that the law does say that these guys have to pay also. I thini the real problem is these woman don´t have the knowledge nor the money to know how to get through the system to get these guys to pay their part. Happens all over the world.

I do feel differently if US laws are broken here...for example if the baby is from rape, or an underage mother. But the woman featured on the show were all old enough to know what they were getting involved with and they all had a choice before getting involved.

I did find it very funny though that all the women were saying they don't want a visa, and as soon as one child's father admitted paternity, she got herself a visa and now lives in Miami!

They can only get US citizenship if the citizen parent registers their birth as a citizen born abroad which entails having to admit to paternity and most likely proving proof of relationship. But the citizen parent has to start the process.

It would be interesting to see if the non-citizen parent can sue to prove paternity with the aim of having the child declared a citizen born abroad.

That may be true but It is illegal for an American citizen or resident to have sex in another country with someone aged under 16, unless the age difference is less than 4 years and the person doing so may be prosecuted for sex offender crimes in the US.
