Google Voice - yet another option.

5 cents to call Colombia land lines and 10 cents for mobile, some cool features - it looks like free SMS to Colombia too. And it appears to run on a Blackberry so this sounds like free SMS from the app on the Blackberry to Colombia (and the rest of the world). Voice to translated text (Vonage does this - it's really cool as your voice mails are transcribed to text and then emailed immediately to you). Originating calls from the Blackberry (or PC) sounds rather interesting too.

I've been using it since it was called GrandCentral. It's great for keeping a phone number in the states where people can leave you voice mail messages and you get notified via e-mail and can either read it or just listen via the website.

If you are using Vonage, make sure to switch to this new plan:

yes I am. I have been with Vonage now for like 4 years. I tried the MagicJack and it was/is horrible. Dropped calls, the computer needed to be turned on all the time and the thing had to be plugged into the computer. And no on-line management of the account (like Vonage/Packet 8) with call forwarding, multiple ringing of different phones, charging for intenational calls (unlike Vonage/Packet 8 where it's free) - horrible customer support, the list goes on and on -but I guess what does one expect for something for 20 dollars??

I don't find the google voice pricing great for Colombia calling... if you do any heavy calling at all.
With the new Vonage plan, unlimited calls to Colombia landlines are included.
From my calculations, if you talk over 8 hours a month, then Vonage saves you significant amounts of money (assuming you call a landline). Another alternative is the unlimited $5/month skype plan for colombia, which works quite well also, even when calling from your home phone in the US (dial a skype in number).

With Vonage we run around 900 minutes of international calls per month to Medellin and all are indeed free. You can't beat Vonage indeed.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I just changed my Vonage plan and it cost nothing extra. Did it right within my account page. No hassling with Customer Service reps.
