Ethiopian restaurant in Medellin?

Does anyone know of an Ethiopian restaurant in Medellin? I used to live in Addis and became very fond of the food there, and I was just wondering if it's possible to find decent Ethiopian food here. I know it's a somewhat ridiculous question, as Medellin is not yet a very international city, but I was just curious...

knox.....i too, lived and worked in ethiopia. as for the food, i don't share the same 'like' for the cuisine. this was years back, maybe 73 ish. i worked up in mekelle in the north, with the ethiopian women's welfare assn. and the food, like that throughout ethiopia was a reddish, not much meatish, grool and a very acetic bread that was common to the people.

edible, yes. but not very exciting. the best food was at the hilton in addis. things were far quieter then than now.

back to the thread..............i have serious doubts that there is a ethiopian restaurant in medallo.......there's a chance, but it's slim to zip.

Very true and I would add Mexican,Thai, Indian, and really all ethnic foods for that matter. The interesting thing is in regards to the Chinese restaurants is that there are tons of Chinese in Medellin and just about all of them either own or work at Chinese restaurants yet its almost impossible to find a decent one. The best one IMO is "In China" located on the inferior in Poblado.

I once asked a Chinese friend who owns a restaurant in Envigado why the Chinese food in Medellin was generally so lousy given that for the most part they were all owned by actual Chinese and he said that they had to tone down the flavor/ taste to suit the Colombian palate.

It made a lot of sense really given how bland and boring most Colombian food tastes.

next time you visit a chinese restaurant ...tell them you want the other menu ....I asked in a chinese restaurant n Barranquilla ..Where do you buy all the asian spices ..they replied we only use soy sauce ....I ate at home instead....

Smile and everyone will wonder what they are missing.

Restaurante Asia isn't too bad given the generally poor quality of chifa in Medellin.

when i moved to ethiopia, i had this giant bushy mustache, about seven inches on each side. no wax, just bush. well in ethiopia...no matter where you are, you eat with your hands. and the tipical food, eaten everywhere, is this reddish gruel, and the flat bread. i always had that red stain in my mustache and the smell as well......finding clean water, you want any where near your mouth was a problem. i finally cut off my mustache because i couldn't deal with it any longer. there went about 8-10 yrs of growning.
