Apartment Hotels in Northern Bogota

I know this has been discussed before, but things change and I'd like to get some recommendations for very nice apartment hotels in Northern Bogota between around Calle 80 to 130, and Cra 1 to 20.

For the longest time, we've stayed at our favorite hotel on Calle 100. It is a small place with great suites, but they didn't honor our reservation last time and left us scrambling for a hotel at midnight. We have stayed there dozens of times and after that BS, we will never stay there again.

Consequently, I need to find a new place to stay for a week in mid June. It seems like a great many people like the rented apartments better, so we are interested in trying them out. Please offer any recommendations of only top notch places.

Thanks,
CG

Your search stops here: just contact fernando (speaks perfect english): fernandohotel at gmail.com
He has class act apartments. I have stayed a week in his 2 bedroom apartment 3 months ago. All I can say is, his place is impressive. Remember, I make not a single dime from writing this review but I am doing it because I was treated well, like a family and I was given what I was promised.
the place is new, furniture is art deco and decorum. The apartment is located in Santa Barbara near restaurants and even Bogotá beer factory bar (not sure of exact name). It’s a safe neighborhood and there is 24/7 security at the door. I walked everywhere in day light and at night. Fernando apartments offer free airport pickup service so no hassle is involved in seeking a good taxi driver. The prices are cheaper than most hotel. Fernando and his wife will personally come to check up on you and make you feel right at home. They didn't even come to pick up the rent for 3 days; this is how much they trusted me. hahaha.
Full wifi internet and cable tv, not to mention, free local telephone calls. Maid comes everyday to clean. Hot water and clean bathrooms. There is nothing you guys need that they don't have. I would be stupid to go to any hotel when I can get 2 bedroom apartment in a great neighborhood for less than I pay for a single room hotel.
Check out his room in his website. www.fernandosuites.com

Viaggio Aparthotels on 85 with 16 I think (behind Carulla near zona rosa). if you go down 85 and turn right on 15, about halfway down the block on the same side as carrulla (towards Park 93) they hav another aparthotel. Used to be good at 140,000 pesos a night (two bedrooms) and washing machine, bkfst etc but its more exy now and always booked.

Thanks bickerss. I called and they are now asking $175.000 for a one bedroom. That is still much less than I'm used to paying for a suite. They do look pretty nice.

For the benefit of anyone else looking, their website is http://www.viaggio.com.co/

I am still waiting to hear from fernandosuites but will post their rates when I hear.

If any of you other godless, long-haired, hippie freaks have suggestions, please post them.

The other one I mentioned (My post wasnt too clear sorry) is much better as it has a washing machine which IMO is a BIG advantage given the outrageous price of having washing done in colombia. If i find the card I will send you the number. It has been mentioned on this site, so someone will remember the name - they also have aparthotels of the same ilk in Chap Alto.

Those are the pics of Suites Real 85. I have stayed there several times and I can recommend it. It is close to Carulla of Kra 15 with 85. The place is clean and confortable, 175,000COP. The breakfast is good and the people there is friendly. Ahhh! and you can smoke as there are ashtrays all over the place!! ;)

I got back the prices from Fernando Suites. They are about as far North as I'd consider staying, but the prices seem very good.

1 Bedroom - $90.000/night
2 Bedroom - $110.000/night
3 Bedroom - $130.000/night

If you stay a few nights, I am sure you can get some discount. The free airport pick up is a great value all by itself. the apartments are very good and located in a very safe and clean neighborhood (santa barbara). i will be going back there soon in the end of june.

Thats not a bad price at all for aparthotels - do they have a washing machine?

I didn't see anything mentioned on the site about washing machines so I wouldn't expect them to have one. If I need anything washed, I'll just have it done at a relative's house :D

I've stayed at both the Viggio Virrey and the Suites85 listed above. I really prefer the Virrey!!
The 85 wasn't bad, but I'm a non smoker, and my stay there reminded me of when I was a kid in the 70's and smoke was in the air EVERYWHERE. The decor and carpet, etc., are a bit dated. The Viaggio is a more modern. I think the prices are very similar. You are right though they get booked up.

I think you are right that the Fernando place is way too north. I also like Lloyd's on cra. 11 at about 94, very close to the parque 93. It's a bit higher, probably over $100 a night now. I think I saw it for 180000 cop. I've stayed there, great people.

I saw this place on the web: I thought I might give it a try, but my friends said this barrio may not be that great at night.

Anyone know about this place?

I don't make anything either off of recommending Lloyds or Viaggio. I almost wonder if I shouldn't tell people about them so I don't have trouble getting a reservation when I want! lol
Well lucky I have one already. I will say that the first time I went to Bogota about 4 years ago I had a reservation at the Viaggio. My flight was delayed, and I arrived very late, around midnight. They had arranged transportation for me from the airport, and the poor driver waited for me a couple of hours at least, but when we got to Viaggio, they did not have a clerk working the desk, just a security guard. He did not let me in!!! I was screwed!! My spanish was just starting to be understandable in those days, but I thought oh man... I am so screeeeeewd in this city I don't know without a room at midnight or later. The driver took me to a hotel on the 15 very close, I think it was Cristobol Colon, probably cost about $50 for just a room. At that time the $ was worth more and they probably took advantage of me a little bit, but what was I going to do... I was greatful the driver didn't just leave me when I got out at the Viaggio, and I tipped him well.

Anyway, the next day I called over to Viaggio, then went over there with my stuff, they apologized profusely. I don't remember that they comped me anything, but I probably didn't have the capacity in Spanish to bitch and complain about it at the time, and I didn't really know what my other options were. I did like the apt. once I got there. I have been back at least 3 times, staying in both a 2 br/apt., and a single estudio. The last times I have been there they have had a clerk working 24hrs. I always ask them when I make my reservations if they have any problem if my flight is delayed, and I remind them of this story, and they assure me it doesn't matter what time I arrive. My only small complaint is that they don't have hot water in the bathroom sinks. I don't think they have hot water in the kitchen sinks either. Seems strange to try and wash dishes with cold water. Oh well. Shower yes, sinks no. So I got in the habit of using an electric razor.

Hope this post helps.
