| About (hobbies etc...) | Arthur, Nice to see reasonable prices on Rentals.
By Greg444 at Mon, 02/27/2006 - 02:10 lostinparadise says on Thursday July 13th, 2006 8:26: Thank you for the apartment you found me 6 months ago. I like to recommend Art to those looking for apartment rental in Cali. Good to hear you're ok Art And thanks again for recommending the Studio Apts. By JR at Tue, 01/09/2007 - 22:28 I've been on this fantastic site for a few months now and am planning on retiring to Cali. I'm a fairly thorough person and don't like surprises. So, when I read many of the posts, I particularly enjoyed the comments made by Gator, PatsyGringo and Arthur Brode. Why did I select Art to see if he could help me? Because he has a unique ability to find ways around some of the red tape to become a pensioner in Colombia. I also learned that he is bi-lingual.He also helps people with their relocation needs, apartment rentals or property sales. When we first got acquainted I had a hundred questions and Art answered nearly every one of them. I'm leaving for Cali on Jan.18 2007 for 10 days and Arthur has offered to help me find and purchase an apartment in Cali. I think many of the folks on this site have offered to help others with the multitude of questions that come up and nobody can get a straight answer from any of the Colombian consulates here in the US. And, that's what makes it a great site for me. Kudo's to all of you who have lent a helping hand with some advice to someone who needed it. For me, a very special "Kudo" and Thank You to Art Brode! By Bobb42 at Fri, 01/12/2007 - Hey everyone Art helped me find 2 different apartments here in Cali and also helped me get my gastric band surgery to help with my weight loss so I'm another PBH guy that can give 'ol Art a thumbs up! By RobMiami at Fri, 01/12/2007 - He's on the secret PBH payroll ;) By Peter at Fri, 01/12/2007 - 22:21 I just got back from three weeks in Cali.. Arthur made the arrangements for my apartment and I have no complaints. I paypal'd him $350 up front and everything was as it had been promised and very convenient for me. I had never met Art before but I ended up hanging out with him nearly everyday and he actually saved me a bunch of money on the trip.. We were "straight west coastin" at his apartment with a different group of beautiful girls on a daily basis at a fraction of the cost of a night in the clubs.. I should have never come home.. By slodrew at Thu, 04/05/2007 - 19:37 | I had problems finding a place in Cali that would take a small dog. So I turned to Art (arthurbrode@aol.com) He came up with a reasonably priced hotel and I paid by PayPal - Art arranged everything. By tim hickman7 at Mon, 04/16/2007 - 18:03 mecca says on Sunday April 29th, 2007 21:09: I know Arthur personally and have had nothing but great experiences with him for over 1 year. Stayed at the Iguana Hostal(Cali) one night a month ago.Bolted the next day. What a dump is correct. My brother and i slept on what they called "beds"...two prison mattreses on the floor. No fans, noisy,no privacy. We paid 30,000 pesos for the Iguana for one night. What Art has is far superior. By Ronrico at Fri, 05/04/2007 Arthur has been real helpfull to me in locating Homes, showing them to my Cousin and sending me pics and info on properties in Cali(Barrio San Antonio) that I am interested in as an investment. By billyb at Thu, 05/17/2007 pinback says on Tuesday May 22nd, 2007 10:47: good exprience so far I will be staying in Cali next week and asked Arthur to set me up with a place. He's been very upfront in all his dealings and very eager to find something in my price range. I'll be happy to give some post-stay impressions as well, but so far, Art has been nothing but helpful. pblueturtle says on Tuesday May 22nd, 2007 13:41 Listen to Art.He can help you with whatever you need and is prompt, professional and courteous. Most importantly I have found him to be honest. He helped me get the place I´m staying in right now and it´s perfect for my needs. Hope my personal experience helps. elk says on Tuesday July 3rd, 2007 4:41: A special thanks to Arthur Brode who initially helped me with my Pension Visa. I later helped five other people through the same process. The PBH board has been a valuable tool. expatriate says on Tuesday November 6th, 2007 14:44: There is the Cali Plaza,or contact www.calirentals.net goin_south says on Friday November 23rd, 2007 10:09: I just spent last week in a Hotel recommended by Art B. The rooms are really very nice. No carpets, but.... more like marbled tile floors, and the doors and trim are that rich dark red wood, must be mahogany or something similar...separate kitchenette...nice modern appliances....very comfortable and exceptionally clean....breakfast included, delivered to your door within about 15 minutes of phone order...good a/c..... big tv, and good cd/dvd player. The staff....en todo.....all were exceptional in their ways, courteous, helpful and attentive... and always: 'hoping you like' everything they have done for you..... And, they were continuous... kept on keeping on... working hard to please. nbenjamin says on Wednesday December 5th, 2007 21:19: I am from Los Angeles - but L.A. cannot hold a candle to Cali.I felt safe the whole time I was there and had no problems. But being safe is more about how smart a traveller you are. But get in touch with Art- he is out there. Buongone says on May 7, 2008, 23:36: Cali-Medellin. Two completely different birds. Hard to rent a place in Cali. You need connections. They are out there, but takes alot of research. Seems like www.calirentals.net is right on with their rentals. IMHO Art, Just wanted to ensure you received the apartment keys I left at the "porteria" and that all was well with the apartment. I'd like to thank you for all your assistance. I will be traveling back to Cali at least 2 more times this year and would love to rent out one of your apartments in the future. Regards, Gilbert bigtexas1974 says on Jul 23, 2008, 19:45: Don't be fooled into thinking that just because you can live in Cali cheap that you can get high-end and short-term accomodations for dirt cheap.www.calirentals.net rates are good, and I would say they only get MORE expensive from there. Be careful to distinguish the difference between "gringo prices" and "realistic prices" for a fully-furnished pad with all the amenities. www.calirentals.net has realistic prices for furnished apartments in Cali - gringo prices would be the same place, overinflated to about $70 a night to pull extra cash out of a traveler who has no other choice - but that's not www.calirentals.net in my opinion. calipro says on Jul 27, 2008, 22:33: I rented my one bedroom apartment out in Cali for 2.5 to 3 million pesos per month based on the length of stay. I rent almost exclusively to foreigners and www.calirentals.net had it rented out almost all of the time..so much so that I had a very hard time finding even two weeks at a time that I could actually stay in my own apartment while in Cali. Hi Art, I'm back in Albany. I just wanted to thank you for your help with the apartment when my girlfriend and I were there. It was perfect for our needs. If we are ever back in Cali, we will surely call on you again. Thanks Robert Frank Rizzo says on Nov 26, 2008, 20:38 Art knows what he's doing....excellent contact for Visas....and very reasonable.... jpseast says on Feb 3, 2009, 19:50: Go to www.calirentals.net then get in touch with Art his phone #'s are on the web site. He is the guy to see here for rentals.Good luck Pirate2late says on Feb 4, 2009, 15:16 Yep, check with www.calirentals.net. I just rented from them during Dec.& Jan. Very good experience and he is honest. bopenyan (☼Travelguide writer) says on Apr 18, 2009, 15:19 I haven't stayed at any of www.calirentals.net apartments. But the one in Barrio San Antonio appears to have a reasonable rate. The pics of the place show a comfortable homey spot. And Barrio San Antonio has all sorts of great bakeries, little cafes and a couple of decent but not expensive restaurants. Paisa/Calena/Luver says on Jun 27, 2009, 20:38 There is www.calirentals.net that rents properties in Cali.A Hostel is cheaper than www.calirentals.net but www.calirentals.net has some cheap properties as well. suizo says on Sep 7, 2009, 08:36 I stayed with calirentals.net last year and I can fully recommend: nice apartments, professional and friendly management, competitive pricing. Just rented an apartment in Cali... By Atrevido on Nov 20, 2009, 16:56 Just rented an apartment in Cali.. Through www.calirentals.net while I had to be in the city for for a few days. Nice apartment, good price. Thanks Arthur. |

bogjudge says on Aug 20, 2007, 12:11: Thanks for the tip. I am trying to get my pensionado. I am a US citizen and am living in Panama as a resident with a pensionado visa. The process is nearly identical to Colombia's, save the fact that I used the same type of SS (translated into Spanish by the embassy) from the embassy in Panama and no one sqwaked about it. It went smoothly. So you suggest I go to the US embassy in Bogota and get a 'certification letter' in spanish. Can I then get my visa there in Bogota or do I have to continue to jump through hoops and go to the US etc etc. The guy at the colombian consulate in Panama City implied that I should go to the Colombian embassy in Houston and get the letter apostilled there. It made absolutely no sense to me, but then this is America Latina. Thanks for you assistance. By the way, I intend to live in Manizales. Right now i'm interested in SA or El Penon, but not wedded to them. PS, if you have anything interesting before then, get ahold of Ana Milena and show it to her.
