Hi, if you didn't sign any papers on her debts during the marriage, those debts aren't yours. Take your debit card from her, and file for divorce ASAP! You will need a power of attorney for you and one for your wife with authenticated signatures at a notaria, a formal written divorce claim signed both by you and your wife, and a claim asking the "disolucion de sociedad conyugal". It's not a difficult process, just get an honest attorney who knows a notario and he or she will help you out. Good luck! Any notarias will tell you the papers you need.

"that lawyer never answered the email so I guess he isn't interested in anyone not in his city. Thanks anyway."

That's sorta strange, he replied to my question about estate planning, and I'm in Panamá. Perhaps he's outa town?

Seems that some people think "everybody's outa step but me".

I'll try to find out about a lawyer in Cucuta and keep you posted on the matter. Good luck!
