Half a lifetime ago. living in Florida, USA, I would stay awake until 2:30 a.m every night to watch a horrible Argentinian soap on tv called "El amo y senor" , just because of the great scenery of the falls in the background-

Argentina is definitely a country that has so much to offer to the tourist; too bad that coming from Europe you have to have a rather fat pocketbook to be able to afford it.

You definitely have to visit, and don't wait too long! You need mobility and energy to enjoy some of the activities at the falls. The flight might be expensive, but you could probably find some very reasonably priced hotels and restaurants!

I was thinking about taking the trip when I start spending my winters in Colombia upon retirement and do a South American tour from there, perhaps just a few places, but Iguazu will definitely top my list of places to visit.

What kind of physical activities at the falls require a good condition? I'm about average for my age, I can walk, climb steps, swim, row a boat but my days of hanging from a vine and swinging from tree to tree are definitely over.

Oh, I lived in Lake Worth, FL, Palm Beach County, for about 5 years, then decided it wasn't really my cup of tea.

The cement walkways and stairs along the edges of the river and near the falls were sometimes slippery and uneven. The walkway was cracked and broken in a few areas. It's such a beautiful park hopefully more money will be invested in maintenance - anyway you need to be a bit sure footed for that trek.

If you take the speedboat to the falls, you should have a good sense of balance and not get easily seasick because it can be a wild, bumpy ride with sharp turns.

I rapelled down the side of a small waterfall and that was a lot of fun.

You could simply take it easy too and go bird watching!

Bird-watching. nah, I don't think so hahaha. I'd take my chances on the slippery walkway anytime. I'm pretty sure-footed and not afraid of heights either. I would LOVE to cross one of those Indiana Jones type hanging bridges over a river gorge.

The speed boat thing O might skip, I do get seasick easily. A stormy night in November on a boat from Sweden to Finland leaves me totally exhausted.

Anyway, my point is this - don't wait until you're 90 to go! Unless you're one of those rare 90 years old with the energy, balance, and stamina of a much younger person.
